Persistence

Success consists of getting up just one more time than you fall. – Oliver Goldsmith

Failure is an opportunity. Look past the defeat and see the fact that however far you have come – that is progress. If you fail a subject at university, keep taking those classes. Because if you give up and never go back until the next semester then you are missing out on a huge chance to be ahead of the game next semester. If you have a business goal or personal goal, remember that the attempt at making progress IS progress. Every step towards your goal is progress. If your attempt fails then celebrate – like Thomas Edison said – you just discovered another way that doesn’t work. Just because you haven’t figured it out yet, that doesn’t mean you can’t figure it out!

Getting up one more time than you fall is all about not giving up, persistence, mental toughness, will power and attitude. If you lack any of those attributes then giving up becomes incrementally easier. Work on yourself to strengthen those things. Use small victories to boost your morale. Be persistent in little things so you can be persistent at big things. Stretch yourself in small increments.

Don’t try and eat the elephant whole!

When you fall, land on your back, because if you can look up, you can get up!
